The easiest way to compare videos would be how many views they have on youtube, for instance if we where to compare Michael Jackson's Thriller to David Bowie's Space Oddity you can see a drastic difference in views. Also another point where you can judge the videos which have been uploaded is the 'Like' and 'Dislike' buttons which can give a clear indication as to where the public find the video good or bad.

Charts are another way to judge wether or not music videos are successfull or not, these are usually measured with either views or how many albums have been brought or downloaded. these charts are normaly played on tv and all the videos are played in order.

Music award ceremonies are usualy held once a year to award artists with titles such a 'Best music video', 'Song of the year', 'Artist of the year' etc. The most well known Music award ceremony is the VMA Awards.
