Emil Nava first began in the media industry as a runner for film production companies, this position involves carrying out many duties ranging from office administration to cleaning up locations. This position has very long and irregular hours which overall don't pay well, but this position does offer the opportunity to get an insight in to many different parts of the media industry.
After being a runner he got promoted to Assistant director, this position enabled him to mange video shoots. He then signed to multiple companies such as Between the Eyes, Pulse and Academy which is the known for being the biggest music video production company.
He then began to make adverts which generally have a high budget but but don't have room for any artistic or creative freedom to include in the video. One of these adverts is L'Oreal's 'Dare to be Different' which has a very metallic and shiny look to the video, this may be a direct relation to the selling point of the product.
He then began to make music videos for Artists and in doing so some of these artist have now become very well known, for example after Emil Navas video for Jessie J's 'Do it Like a Dude'.
